Charging

I'm often asked, how long does it take for you to charge your car.  There are so many variables to take into consideration.

1. Which level charger are you using

Level 1 charge - your typical US household outlet rated at 110 volt

Level 2 charge - 240 volt is what you will find many of the commercial charges

DC Fast Charge - are typically commercial charges

2. How much do you need to charge to get to your destination

Typically I charge enough to just get to my destination and to the next charger so I don't "fill up", sometimes the        charge stop may be 10 or 15 minutes

3. What size of battery does your car have

My battery size is 85 kWh, so to "fill up" will take longer than a battery that is half the size or is half full.

5. Sure, on a long trip it's necessary to stop to charge, but we need to stop anyway because we're not ones to wear depends as the astronaut did when she drove from Houston to Florida.
